Typical Sprawling London Hospital. Unfortunately signage is poor. Parking is limited so avoid driving if at all possible. During our visit to Riverside wing today the receptionist, whilst civil, couldn’t bring herself to greet us with hello or good morning. Whilst staff are overworked and underpaid these everyday pleasantries should not be allowed to slip as it sets the scene for the whole visit and helps settle patients who are probably quite nervous. Partner wanted me to accompany him during his appointment as he was nervous but was refused. No explanation just ‘it wasn’t allowed’. Complete lack of information for me and everyone else waiting for their partners/relatives as to what is happening and when they’ll be ready to go following anaesthetic.
