Although the rooms are dated, we liked the spaciousness and the extra exercise we got walking a long distance from Reception. During a two day stay we ate on the first evening in the lovely restaurant and the food and service was very good. Breakfast in the same area was very good with lots of choices. This was one of our favourite rooms because there are good views of the stunning garden through the huge windows. Staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of the afternoon tea staff who refused to let us in the restaurant unless we sat in the back room away from everyone else (we checked when we left and there were lots of empty tables in the restaurant during afternoon tea). In the end we had cream tea in the Atrium restaurant and it turned out to be a comedy of errors. Should not have bothered to stay after checkout for cream tea as it spoilt what would have otherwise been a lovely stay. Finally, the architecture is superb with lots of photo opportunities. Great place for a wedding or special occasion.
