Whenever I go into a British airport I head straight for Dixons as I know I will meet some friendly people who can give me a useful assessment of the latest technology. The people are what make this shop great -- they all seem to know a lot about computers, cameras and phones and their prices are as good as you can find online. I don't think I've ever gone into a Dixons with an intent to buy something but sometimes I do. Over recent years I've bought speakers, cameras and phones -- each time following an in depth conversation with a staff member. They recently moved their location in Edinburgh Airport which is a shame as they used to have a lot more cameras on offer, and a really smart woman who knew a lot about them, but their new location is good and the new generation of staff are equally helpful. They give the impression that they actually like talking to you, are sharing some personal impressions of the gear under question, and are not trying to hustle you into a deal. In the photos below you can see a photo of Dave, who told me he's the "team leader". He is very friendly and he helped me kill half an hour. As Arnie says, "I'll be back."
