Food was amazing - I exchanged the collard greens for fries, which I'm sure would have been amazing. I recommend to come at 130pm when the rooftop opens. It's a nice vibe up stairs. My friend ordered a yogurt parfait and got little yogurt, which was the only negative.

After work is much better than later in the evening. Not only can you hear the music but you can hear the people you're talking to... And the music is better to me. Seems that the music is geared more towards people that are professional and career minded. Drinks are slightly under avg for DC prices. Food is good but the bar bites are over-priced. My first time eating here I had the fried chicken basket. They said it came with 3 thighs and 2 biscuits. The thighs were the smallest thighs I've ever seen and the biscuit was one cut in half. Both were pretty good but not worth the $15. The fries were pretty good.

Marvin and I have sort of a love hate relationship. Let. And blove the place because the vibe is great, the people are nice. Great crowd and outside deck. My only gripe is that the sound system is horrible. It sounds like some cell phone speakers at times. I will say that the last time I went there the sound d system sounded a lot better so maybe they recently upgraded. The next time I go I will double check and update this review accordingly. All in all, I will say that if you go to Marvin's you are almost guaranteed to have a good time.

Absolutely excellent outdoor space upstairs. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is chilled out. There was no pressure to be there, dress right, or act a certain way. The beer selection was delicious too, a DC local brewery. Highly recommend.

I had arrived at the restaurant and it was somewhat empty very quick to get seated even though we had reservations we sat down for about 45-50 minutes before they realize they did not give us our food mind you the restaurant was just starting to fill up. Our waitress was wonderful and did everything to accommodate us so we don't blame her but kitchen staff and food runners need an improvement. I ordered a hamburger and fries was it came cold and my girlfriends plate was chicken and collard greens which looked like three pieces of Kfc chicken with sloppy collard greens and dried biscuit this place is not worth your time it is nowhere near authentic soul food.
