Breathtakingly awful, dishonest service. A pin broke in the lightning port inside my iPhone, and Apple's service chat booked an appointment for me here. After dropping the device off first thing on Tuesday morning, it took them 2 days to give me the diagnosis--that the lightening port was bad. Then things got weird. In the next breath, the technician announced that the whole phone would have to be replaced because "it is impossible to replace this part". Since I explained that I was concerned about recovering the data on the phone, he "helpfully" suggested that I might try their one and only (presumably authorized) data recovery specialist. But, he warned me, since the specialist only deals with data recovery from laptops, there is probably nothing at all that can be done, and I really should just replace the phone.
Realizing that there was no way everything could be this impossible, an internet search revealed that it was, in fact, very easy to replace the lightening port, and a quick call to another phone repair place revealed moreover that I could go right then and they would do it while I wait. When I happily told MR Systems I wanted my phone back because I would go elsewhere, their next act of dishonesty was to ominously threaten "but it will invalidate your warranty!" Of course, they knew full well that my warranty was already expired (it said so right on the ticket they gave me!). And, in any case, since I was primarily concerned about recovering my data, the loss of a warranty (had one remained) would have been an exchange I was only too happy to make. Anyway, I ended up retrieving the phone and going directly to the other place, where a very friendly technician took about 15 minutes to repair the phone and charged me £30. Obviously, it's as good as new, and all the data is there.
My advice: if you have something that is still under warranty and you are entitled to free service from Apple as a result, perhaps these crooks will work for you, but if you're out of warranty, or they tell you that something is impossible, go elsewhere. The service will be far nicer, prompter, cheaper, and less dishonest. MR Systems was, hands down, the worst customer service experience I've had in London, and perhaps anywhere. Congrats, MR Systems!
