My husband Moshe had a terrible experience with Sergeant Brian Cohen from this precinct. It is particularly disturbing that Sergeant Cohen publicly established in a court of law that he has no integrity, while at the same time he is responsible for issuing more tickets and making more arrests than any other officer in the precinct (according to what his supervisor told my husband). Moreover, the 101st Precinct even won an award because of Sergeant Cohen's "success". Clearly, the leadership at this precinct is completely out of touch with what their own officers are doing.

On Sunday morning, November 13, 2016, at around 9:00 AM I was pulled over by a police officer from this precinct (Sergeant Brian Cohen) on Brunswick Ave. near the intersection of Brunswick Ave. and Nameoke Ave. I was issued a traffic ticket for something I didn't do. The officer was shouting at me in a fit of rage and made me fear for my life. At the end of the traffic stop he threw the ticket at me and then burst out laughing. On March 2, 2017 @ 10:30 AM I confronted the officer at the local DMV traffic court. He denied everything and pretended that it was a routine traffic stop. I then asked him whether anything else happened. In response he became extremely nervous and said, "No. Nothing else happened. It was just a traffic ticket." He was so nervous that some of his fellow officers were laughing. I then proceeded to describe everything that actually happened in an animated and dramatic way. At the end of my presentation, the officer was crying and trembling. His fellow officers all had looks of utter shock on their faces. After the traffic court case was over, I submitted a formal complaint against the officer to the Civilian Complaint Review Board. I was interviewed in person by one of their investigators. The officer and his partner were also interviewed, and they both denied everything. On Memorial Day, at around 9:00 AM I received a visit at my house from the officer's supervisor. He angrily accused me of fabricating the whole story. As "proof" for his allegation, he pointed to the lack of video evidence for what actually occurred. That is because the NYPD has no cameras in their patrol cars, and does not issue body cameras to their officers. Apparently, protecting innocent civilians by holding officers accountable for their behavior is a non-priority for the city budget. As far as I am aware, Sergeant Brian Cohen was never disciplined for what he did to me, and is still in active full-time duty. To this day, I have yet to receive so much as an apology for the outrageous way that I was treated. If and when the NYPD is willing to start treating me like a human being and resolve this issue in a satisfactory way, I would be more than happy to replace this post with a positive one.
