Nice design, nice place but there are not a lot of seats. Was given importance to the decoration and not to the exploiting space for more seats in the library. Not a learning environment because of the noise. Others chat loudly, chats on the phone, Children run around in the open play area, a space not distinct from the surrounding environment. Downstairs there are some broken computers, they could fix the area for more space.

Not a learning environment. Any interior designer or architect knows how a space, colours, lighting etc all influence an atmosphere enough to promote a mindset for its purpose and this space demonstrates a failure to grasp such an understanding. I sit at a table that provides 30cm knee space before discomfort/a barrier is reached, a mother is cooing to her irritable child next to me, on my left a young teen chats on his phone. Others chat loudly and freely about computer games. Children run around in the open play area, a space not distinct from the surrounding environment. I'd assume this 'modern' envionment is for a young social media influenced generation, a bright place to take selfies rather than a place for quiet reflection on texts. There is no tradition here unfortunately. You will not find the ghosts of academia furrow browed in any corner. Its a social space more than a library. Better if the Tories had kept up Labour's efforts and moved it to the centre of town given what it is. A school would have been nice here.

Nice refurbished library. However in the summer it gets too hot and where we used to have air-conditioning in the children's area now it gets too hot and they find it difficult to enjoy the library. Love the plethora of new facilities but the space to sit upstairs is more limited than before. Downstairs feels too dull and uninspiring for a person to sit and study. Love the community room and the various events that are organised. There is parking but is limited. Also there is a beautiful array of books for children and adults.

Nice library but desks have not got enough leg room. Limited space and bit noisy also.
