While the buildings and the white marble steps were quite beautiful, the massive amounts of tourists and street vendors seems to taint the beauty of the rest of the piazza. Also, the large amount of touristy shops takes away some of the original charm of the piazza. For the best experience I recommend climbing the stairs to get a nice view of the street life below.

Crazy busy. Only worth going to of you have spare time and you can get in early before the crowds sit all over it. We passed through about 3pm and there were so many people just sitting or laying on it, not only could the steps not be properly appreciated, but we could barely walk up them to get to the top!

It was a beautiful place. There were plenty of tourists there during the day taking photos and just sitting around. At night, seemed like more of the locals were there. Some were laying on the steps and others, drinking wine enjoying the view. Well positioned in a busy part of the city with much to do.

One word, Spectacular. The energy there is pure electricity. At the top of the steps there is another church, if you walk to the left when facing the church it will take you to a park where you can have an amazing view of the entire city. At the bottom of the park there is yet another Piazza. Great places to eat around the area of the steps.

I just only visited this place at night and is an awesome place to relax and walk all over the place. It is a good place to start the walking tour. After her you can go to trevi fountain and then to the pantheon in just a couple minutes. Places is very secure, surrounded by police all the time so don't have to worry to much at night.
