Would definitely recommend a visit!! Modern movies and books, aside this is a truly remarkable place. A truly ancient chapel that's seen many different times and modifications. The location is amazing on a hill with views for miles. The chapel itself is not that big but trust me its packed full of secrets and imagery everywhere you look. The guides are very helpful knowing so much about the many years of history and where every little detail and sculpture lies. The tour map is very good as it shows you where all the interesting parts are. The crypt is worth looking into as its location and marking are also interesting. The recent addition of a cafe/information area and shop make this well worth a day out. There is a large selection of items to browse in the shop and plenty of sitting space int the cafe as well as lots to read on the walls and tables if that takes your fancy. i'm not going to lie there is a big international crowd that comes here and i imagine it can get quite busy but that is not the places fault and i would just plan your visit to bear this in mind. Overall one of many historical gems in Scotland that has a modern but considerate charity looking after it, and also still a functioning church if the current religious side of it is of interest.
