Let me tell you about one of my top pet peeves. Why would you care? Well, if you share my distaste for frivolous wastes of time, then you may want to read on. If you enjoy throwing away bits of your life then ignore this review.
I accidentally ordered 2 Galaxy S9+'s online. I didn't need 2 phones, I made a mistake, I'm an occasional idiot, my fault, okay. So I want to return one of the phones, right? Cool. Easy! I'll go to a Samsung store! Great, settled.
I should check to see if I can return a phone ordered online in store! Some companies have weird proto-unified-point-of-sale systems, I get that. Good thing I remembered, right? Wouldn't it be really embarrassing and a tragic waste of my insignificant life to wait in line (because today is launch day +1) only for them to say "you can't return online orders in store"?
So I call the store in the afternoon. A nice man answers and I ask my questions and he confirms outright (Samsung Sherway if you record your calls, please do verify this) that they do, in fact, take returns of online merchandise in store!
Cut to an hour before I wrote this essay. I'm waiting in line (again, because today is launch day +1) for 30 minutes when yes! Finally! It's my turn! I get my CAD$1200 back!
The friendly gentleman asks me how he can help and I put on my best returning-a-brand-new-extra-unneeded-phone-that-I-ordered-in-a-delirium smile and tell him I have to return a brand new extra unneeded phone that I ordered in a delirium.
His smile falters,
"You can't return online orders in store."
My smile falters.
"You're kidding, right?"
Now, my initial instinct was to scream a terrible scream and stomp my feet and shout for a manager, but I don't have a short back swept haircut dyed blonde so I didn't think I qualified to do such a thing.
Instead, I sighed one of the more painful sighs I've sighed, muttered "oh...oh...okay...thanks" and walked out.
Samsung, I love you, love your phones, but by God I can't stand it when I've confirmed information with a corporate employee day-of only to be told the complete opposite hours later.
