Free on Thursday. Lovely artworks. They have a whole room specific for Mark Rothko, artworks from Jackson Pollock, and many others as well. New artists work are also exhibited here which is interesting. Works of olden day photographers (Black & White) The free tour (given by Alex) was really lovely as well as they get more in depth about the artworks.

It’s Contemporary alright. If you’re not a fan of “modern art” then you probably won’t be so taken by the pieces in this museum. Came here with my girlfriend because the line at the Broad across the street was long as usual. Unfortunately it was not a good alternative. Fairly priced, but nothing really memorable.

Whether Contemporary Art is your thing or not, this a wonderful, manageable museum. Located in the heart of the financial district & close to many historical sites; it's great to combine with a walking tour. I went to see a temporary exhibit on photography which was very well curated & organized. The permanent works, some enormous, are also easy to access even if disabled. There are strategically placed elevators & staff willing to help you with them. A lot of stair climbing otherwise. Typical pricing with Senior & student discounts. Parking is in the California Plaza. But get a validation from the museum when u buy your ticket which brings the price to $7. If I hadn't obtained validation it would've been $40

Even though I know it's wrong I always semi-consciously try to logically interpret expressionist paintings so parts of this museum were a little frustrating for me. But it has a good variety of contemporary art. There's something for everyone.

I laughed more than I appreciated the art. Some of the things that pass as art...not impressed. Probably came when they we're in between getting some actual interesting pieces. Stick to the Broad or LACMA. I'll never return.
