Great place to fly into the L.A. area. On the edge of the busy L.A. airspace. Stay low on approach from east and watch the mountains. Been flying in n out of here since late 60s with my father. Perfect location.

I flew my first plane here, right in front of the vista aviation building. I was 13, and can honestly say it was the best day of my life. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, and congratulated me when my senior pilot told them that my very first time in a Cessna, I controlled it for an hour forty-five like a pro. I've visited it several times since on Google Maps, reminiscing in front of the building where I saw the plane for the first time. I hope to take flying lessons there within the following year, and hopefully obtain my wings. I'd recommend this airport to any pilot in the area needing a home base. Whiteman, don't change a thing!

I'm at Van Nuys, rent is high here on hangars so a lot of people went to Whiteman so Whiteman raised
